This powerful documentary reviews the life, work and philosophy of the legendary Malcolm X. Besides some narration from James Earl Jones (reading passages from Malcolm's autobiography), the story of Malcolm X is mostly told by the man himself. We get to see the famous and often controversial minister/activist giving impassioned speeches and verbally sparring with miscellaneous reporters/interviewers. This is interspersed with various clips (of contemporary events and also snippets of friends & enemies talking about the film's subject) which help to create a stirring portrait of a particular era in history. Love him or hate him, Malcolm X still has the ability to fascinate over 50 years after his brutal (and conspiracy-drenched) murder in front of a crowd in New York City.
